Michael Butcher is Head of Strategic Initiatives at EBG, responsible for the evaluation and development of new strategic initiatives in the corporate benefits space, with the goal of exploration of expanded products, services, and opportunities.

Prior to joining EBG, Michael was the co-founder and COO at Beneplace, a premier voluntary benefits platform provider. Starting in 2002, he designed the original Beneplace platform with the intent to provide employers with a tool to better manage an ever-growing number of employee benefits. Beneplace was acquired by EBG in 2019 after many years of successful growth. 

Michael began his career with MetLife in their Voluntary Benefits Group. During his tenure, he held senior sales and client service positions and served on numerous product teams that designed specialty insurance products for the large employer marketplace.

Michael earned both a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts.
